The gloom of modern wars, which, despite their apparent colorful beauty, always remain dark

by Stefan F. Wirth

Wars can never be positive and never look good, what ever colors you use to illustrate it. Wars are often combined with masculinity, courage, necessity and patriotism. In reality they should not happen at all in our modern world. Stop fighting, where ever you are!

Humans cannot get rid of their evolutionary heritage. They need power and resources. To achieve this, they have used violence, shed blood, over and over again for as long as humanity has existed.

I experiment with the colors of the scary, the destructive, the suffering. Can colors be beautiful if they represent the opposite of beauty? And if I radically remove the colors, does that convey more objectivity?

Digital experiment with analog colors. And the question of how shape, form and emotional perception are changeable. And whether the perception of a battlefield, despite all the blood, can be inspiring and positive for some viewers who like beautiful colors but are also able to completely overlook the manifestation of the horrifying hidden behind it.
